Good performance in the ring starts with the quality of the horse. Meet the sporthorses, the DVB Youngsters, own breeding products and sales horses of DVB. Of course, the biggest stars of the past are not left out either.
All horses at Dressage Stable Van Baalen receive the same five-star management that is tailored specifically to each horse. They come out daily, are trained by Marlies, Coby or the DVB stable riders and always get the best feed, bedding and physical supervision. In this way, they can perform to the best of their abilities.
Go Legend was born in the stables of Marlies’ parents-in-law. Participation in the Tokyo Olympics and the European Championships in Hagen made 2021 a top sporting year.

Dhe KWPN-approved Inspekteur (by Darwin) was a true professor and a real family horse. He was the first breeding product of Coby’s father Jan Dorresteijn. Together with Marlies, he achieved fantastic results in youth, including EC team gold. With his strong movements, the Habibi bred by Marian Dorresteijn and Hennie Broekhuizen had a lot of talent for the youth tests. Whenever he was allowed into the ring, he always grew a little extra. Together with Marlies, he took team and individual gold at the European Championships in Hickstead.
Soon after Marlies’ youth career, Idocus came on her path: the American owner Christine McCarthy offered the stallion for breeding at Team Nijhof in the Netherlands and found the right rider in Marlies. Idocus was a very sensitive horse, but once Marlies got to know him well they could read and write together, resulting in two World Cup finals and the Olympic Games in Athens.
